It’s no secret, I love the Fender Professional line basses. They are solid basses. HOWEVER, there is a reason why some guys shy away from them – The string spacing is 1mm wider than vintage and makes us NUTS! That’s were Kebo’s comes in. We bought an as-new Professional Pbass with a bad neck. That neck is scrap and not a part of this sales package. The body is stock and in the cellophane. While fresh, the body is not mint as it shows oh so mild patina. Now the fun part – The neck is a 1982 Precision neck that has the same profile as a typical 1976 to 1982 Pbass – this is the neck WITHOUT the extreme angle on the fretboard that came out late 82. How do we know its an 82 – its easy, it has all the stamps from Fender INTACT (Date and names). The neck finish playing surfaces, frets, rod, are all stock. When we bought the neck, the headstock was finished black. We stripped the headstock and applied a warranty replacement logo. I just want to point out the face of the headstock is a little lighter in color than the fretboard and the logo is over the finish.
Now more good news – The bass weighs 8.2 lbs! You have that modern body with a GREAT playing neck with the familiar feel and spacing. This my friends is a good one. Has a nice GB.
