This bass is beyond special. One of my dear friends bought this new and has been its only owner. This was a tour used bass - if you look at one of the last pics, that is 1976 / 1977 at Madison Square Garden on the bill with KC and the Sunshine Band and Ohio Players. Every chip and wear mark tell the story. The chunk out of the guard, that was heavy slap and pop on stage. The change to Grover Tuners - One of the box back Grovers failed on stage and the pieces went flying. Changed switch tip but switch is orig. This bass has heavy wear and patina. Tour used basses, this happens BUT keep in mind, GREAT basses get played. Frets are in excellent shape. Truss rods work but like all rods from the era, they are turned down a little bit and the area under is scraped out. KK, serial, 71 harness, great weight at under 9lbs. Has all the features but the thumb rest was chucked 50 years ago. Has a period, 70s hard case (non orig). Most important has the neck profile! Wide, flat and shallow. The binding has splits and a teeny piece failed but the rest looks ok. Tone is magic and stays in tune. Like we say, every flaw tells a story and this bass lived the life and has the stories to tell.
