We have a great playing, issue free 4001 from 1972. The bridge is flush (no lift at all), never had a fretboard lift. Good rods/frets/relief/action and JUST set up by Matt Brewster at 30th Guitars in NYC. Matt is the Zen Jedi Master of all luthiers.
Cosmetically, this bass has been played but never abused. Yes there is wear and patina, smooth wear that you can't feel on the back of the neck (see pic) and a patch of buckle rash on the back. She looks like a 50+ year old bass that was cared for and carefully used.
She's a 7 feature bass, last of the best series.
* Box back Grover tuners
* Plexi truss rod cover
* Crusher inlays - binding to binding
* Toaster pickup
* Plexi thumb rest (Missing)
* Gap tooth bridge
* Check board binding
She has the original case, 9.2 lbs. Shes all there other than the mentioned missing thumb rest and long ago the output choke cap was removed.
This is a good one with no stories, no oh by the ways and no monkey business.
