Oh does this bass kill! Back in the day I remember going into 48st Custom in NYC and my old friend Muni showing me one of these... Cant believe it was 40 years ago... I always had an affinity for this bass. I believe this was a Japan home market model and the thing you'll see is other than the body and electronics, these all seem to be different. This bass has one of the best necks I've ever played. Very reminiscent of my 1963 Pbass. Its just about a perfect neck with insanely low action where every note rings clear. This is important - Has a matching headstock, has the back of the neck painted and has the full sized headstock, not the tele-style.
The electronics on this bass are unique and FUN! V/V/V/T but not what you think! Vol 1 controls coils 1 and 3. Vol 2 controls coils 2 and 4 and the Vol 3 is for the J pickup and a master tone. This bass is ballsy but you can even play Jamerson-esque lines if you wanted to.. I just done ripping out Rock Bottom and Lights Out and i'll tell ya, it sounds as good if not better than my Tbird doing it. Has an original ESP heavy gigbag.
Cosmetics, well the bass was played but not abused. The white finish creamed out, has some checks, some chips, some patina but no abuse. Its gig wear and great basses get gigged. Its rocked but not rolled. This is a terrific bass!
